Turns out these pups aren’t the first good-natured animals to disappear in recent weeks, and it’s going to take some strong will, determination, and straight-up heroics to unravel this peculiar case.

Curious about the upcoming movie, The Surrogates? The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name. Here's your chance to read The Surrogates #1 online absolutely free.

The year is 2054, and life is reduced to a data feed. The fusing of virtual reality and cybernetics has ushered in the era of the personal surrogate, android substitutes that let users interact with the world without ever leaving their homes. It's a perfect world, and it's up to Detectives Harvey Greer and Pete Ford of the Metro Police Department to keep it that way. But to do so they’ll need to stop a techno-terrorist bent on returning society to a time when people lived their lives instead of merely experiencing them.

The Surrogates is a story about progress and whether there exists a tipping point at which technological advancement will stop enhancing and start hindering our lives. It is also a commentary on identity, the Western obsession with physical appearance, and the growing trend to use science as a means of providing consumers with beauty on demand.

The new series by Phil Hester, The Anchor, from BOOM! Studios will be in stores October 14. Here's the cover as well as a summary. Click here for more preview pages.

Holy warrior, unholy war. Freak of nature, beast of burden, hulking outcast, medieval prize fighter, Viking raider… God’s own leg-breaker. One thousand years ago a hulking outcast sought refuge in the crumbling ruins of an ancient monastery and offered in return the one thing he had to give - his fists. Transformed into an immortal warrior monk standing at the gates of Hell itself to keep our world free from its invading armies, The Anchor is mysteriously tricked into centuries of slumber. But today, this holy warrior rises to battle all the unholy monsters unleashed during his slumber. Cataclysmic action, quirky humor, and profound pathos for fans of Hellboy and The Goon. A new BOOM! ongoing series, brought to you by Eisner Award-nominated writer/artist Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Swamp Thing, The Coffin, Firebreather, The Darkness) and fan-favorite artist Brian Churilla (Rex Mundi, The Engineer, Creepy).

Last April BOOM! Studios showed the world that "Mark Waid Is Evil" with the smash hit series IRREDEEMABLE. Now Mark Waid is INCORRUPTIBLE. A new ongoing series launching this December, INCORRUPTIBLE asks the question: What Happens When A Villain Becomes A Hero? Written by Mark Waid and sporting sensational interior art by hot newcomer Neil Edwards (SQUADRON SUPREME) INCORRUPTIBLE features covers by John Cassaday (ASTONISHING X-MEN) and Tim Sale (BATMAN: LONG HALLOWEEN).

INCORRUPTIBLE showcases super villain Max Damage, who had an epiphany the day The Plutonian destroyed Sky City. That day, when The Plutonian turned his back on humanity, Max Damage decided to step up. Now Max Damage has changed his name to Max Daring and turned from his formerly selfish ways to become... INCORRUPTIBLE. The flip side to this year's break-out smash hit IRREDEEMABLE, examining the hard, difficult road to changing your ways and making a difference in the world...

"While you don't need to be reading IRREDEEMABLE to enjoy this new series, INCORRUPTIBLE continues that complex study of caped morality at the end of the world," says Managing Editor, Matt Gagnon. "Readers will be shown a shockingly different perspective of The Plutionian's world, where a super-villain, pushed by an insurmountable force, dares to be INCORRUPTIBLE. "
